A knowledge of our nervous system is no longer reserved for those of us working in the yoga, somatic, and therapy fields. Information on the fight-flight-freeze responses of the A.N.S is readily available and we have in these challenging times become more aware of the far-reaching impacts of an unbalanced nervous system on our health and relationships.

In our yoga and meditation classes, we are guided into the parasympathetic function of our nervous system, our rest and digest response and we get a felt sense of how good deep relaxation feels compared to a more sympathetic response which we commonly associate with stress, anxiety, overwhelm and so on. The nervous system however is a lot more nuanced than simply being relaxed or stressed and delving into those nuances can be incredibly beneficial.

Nervous system theory can be helpful to identify and develop an understanding of what our patterns are and how they may have come about. In Somatic movement practices, we embark on a journey of befriending our unique nervous system developing a somatic skill set that we can integrate into our daily lives.

In becoming intimate with our nervous system we open a space for growth and re-calibration, re-establishing elasticity, appropriate responsiveness, and importantly creating new neurological pathways.

In this immersion you are invited to explore a variety of short movement practices. Drawn from a blend of studies in various fields of somatic practice and therapy and personal discoveries from a continuing passion for nervous system and trauma work.
This covers delivers a toolbox of practical and easy to integrate practices to support you on your unique path of nervous sytem undertsanding and balance.

We are all fundamentally whole and our nervous system is a recording system for the life and experiences we have lived, embracing and living from this awareness means that there is no beginning and no end to this work it is an ongoing exploration, a way of living with infinite possibilities

We are excited to invite you into the following rich fields of exploration:

*Recognizing fight, flight, freeze.

*The basics of the Poly Vagal theory and exploring Vagal tone in practice.

* The power of noticing and Sensing

* Grounding and yielding for cultivating safety and present moment experience.

*Cultivating a well of personal resources through orientation and attunement to pleasure.

* Pandiculation

* Breath and touch to soothe and move us through habitual responses.

*Developing trust and the importance of choice and autonomy.

The majority of this course will be practice with a few short presentations and access to slides and theory to be explored in your own time.

Somatic practices and inquiry lead us into a deeper fuller human experience whereby we cultivate a deep listening, a moment to moment intimacy of being, which informs our life and reveals a more complete experience of what we are.

In the Way of Soma immersion we are guided in a process of sensitization within a beautiful synthesis of movement, somatic yoga, somatic and cellular breath exploration and somatic awareness.

We explore the 4 foundational long form sequences of “ Seed to Bloom” “Reset and Feel” “Move to Rise” and “Move to Settle” that serve as a rich container to explore the essential threads of a rich somatic practice , They are a springboard into a continuously colourful and unique tapestry of movement and being.

Way of Soma practice is a cross pollination across somatic fields of awareness, movement, Feldenkrais, Hanna Somatics, Dynamic yoga Method, and Authentic movement to name a few.
